Hey!
Thank you for being a great mentor/advisor of our work at Voltx. At Voltx, we’re building a machine learning solution to accelerate and reduce the time it takes to do all types of reliability tests for energy storage devices (batteries, supercapacitors) and electronics (PVs, lasers, LEDs etc.).
As Q1 has come to an end, we’d like to update you on our progress, next steps and hear your thoughts regarding what we’re working on :)
Here’s what we’ve been up to in 2 minutes:
Progress
Onboarded a machine learning developer to help support us in testing and developing new ML models. As well, we’ve brought on another team member to help us research and identify other key problem areas in electronics and energy storage. Our goal is to understand where we can apply our or a similar ML model to solve an important pain point.
We worked with a large supercap manufacturer to finish developing our MVP for lifetime testing. Now, we are targeting 2 other key tests in the battery/super capacitor manufacturing process that has an even bigger return for our customers if solved.
Secured partnership with a supercap manufacturer to implement our work for testing 10,000’s of their devices.
We are researching testing processes and inefficiencies for various other electronics. This is an article we published that explains testing issues for lasers, LEDs, photovoltaics, batteries, optical coatings, integrated circuit chips, and more!
This month, we did a lot of thinking in regards to our business model and how we can scale our work in other important areas past supercaps. We would like Voltx to become a group of researchers and ML developers where we publish and research different problems areas in testing, energy storage and electronics. Alongside, we want to continue to partner with academic and industrial groups to provide them with advice + develop ML solutions to pain points at their companies. We are still building out what this will concretely look like and would love to connect with any of you if you have ideas/feedback for us :)
To support us in expanding our work and team, we applied to a few grants + other forms of non-dilutive funding. This included the Remarkable Student Competition. You can check out our submission here. Votes on our submission would also be greatly appreciated 🤗
On Deck Fellowship:
Both Shagun and I had the chance to join the On Deck community where we’ve had the chance to meet amazing founders working in different industries from biotech, finance to energy. On top of the great community, we’ve learned a lot about how to build high-quality products, retain customers, as well as hire and build a world-class team.
Next Steps
Continuing to finalize our business model and securing grants to support us in expanding our team and work in other key industries.
Expanding partnerships by working with more companies/institutions in the battery, PVs, lasers space and more to further implement our work.
Growing our dev team by building out a core set of web app and ML developers.
Your help
Please do reach out to us if you have ideas, connections or can help us in any way with:
Grants - if you have ideas for any grants + other forms of non-dilutive funding that we can apply for.
Machine Learning Developers - if you know any ML developers who have experience + deep expertise with regression and time-series models. They must also be available for contractual or part-time work with time commitment being flexible at the moment.
Battery or electronic company connections - if you know any supercap, lasers, LEDs, photovoltaics, batteries or other energy storage/electronics companies that might be interested in chatting with us about their current testing.
Thanks for reading our update and we look forward to hearing from you!
